What Does the Bible Say About Humility?

Swallow your pride occasionally; it isn't fattening.

For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
I Corinthians 15:9

Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.  Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ...
Ephesians 3:7-8

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
I Timothy 1:15

Did Judas Iscariot Go to Hell?

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.  And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.  Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?  And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.  And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.  Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.  And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.  And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?  And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.  The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
Matthew 26:14-24

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
Mark 14:21

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:12

What Does the Bible Say About Your Finances?

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Proverbs 13:11

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
Proverbs 13:18
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.Proverbs 13:22

Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
Proverbs 13:23
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.  He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Proverbs 10:4-5

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
Proverbs 27:23-24

What Was Paul's Infirmity?

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.  For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
II Corinthians 12:7-9

Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
Galatians 4:15

Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
Galatians 6:11

What Does the Bible Say About Celebrating Holidays and Eating Meat?

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?  Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.  I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
Galatians 4:9-11

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.  For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
I Timothy 4:1-5

What Does the Bible Say About Wine?

Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?  They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.  Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.  At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.  Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.  Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.  They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Proverbs 23:29-35

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.  Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.  Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Proverbs 31:4-7

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit...
Ephesians 5:18

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Titus 2:3

What Does the Bible Say About Borrowing Money?

For more questions about money, click here.

A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
Proverbs 17:18

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Proverbs 22:7

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.  If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
Proverbs 22:26-27

Are the Bible and Science Mutually Exclusive?

The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.  The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.  All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Ecclesiastes 1:5-7

He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.  He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
Job 26:7-8

Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.  Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.  He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.  The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.  As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
Job 28:1-5

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Isaiah 40:22

What Does the Bible Say About Gossip?

Contrary to popular opinion, it isn't always necessary to repeat everything you hear, everything you know, or anything you think you know.  Even if something is true doesn't mean it needs to be repeated.  Many things should never be said at all.

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love, but he that repeateth a matter separateth good friends.
Proverbs 17:9

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.  A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Proverbs 16:27-28

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Proverbs 18:8

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.  As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.  The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Proverbs 26:20-22

How Should We Speak?

Does your conversation lift others up or cut them down? Whether you are talking to someone, or talking about them, your speech should always be seasoned with grace.

There is he that speaketh like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is healing.
Proverbs 12:18

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
Proverbs 12:25

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.  The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
Proverbs 15:1-2

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Proverbs 15:4

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
Proverbs 15:7

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
Proverbs 15:23

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
Proverbs 15:26

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Proverbs16:24

He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.  Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Proverbs 17:27-28

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
Proverbs 25:11

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
I Peter 3:10

But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

What Does the Bible Say About Sex?

Note: All references are from the King James Version (A.V. 1611)  of the Bible.

Sex has been viewed by mankind in various lights throughout the course of history.  From the free range love of the sixties, to the hush hush attitude of the Elizabethans, these views have gone to the extreme on both sides.  Even today parents have a difficult time broaching the subject with their children.  Unbeknownst to many, the Bible is far from silent on this subject.  The truth is that virtually every aspect of sex is talked about in the Bible.  Not only are the reproductive organs of both male and female mentioned by name, but their very functions (sexual, digestive, and nourishment in the case of the female breasts) are discussed frequently within the pages of the Bible.  Of interest is the fact that the Bible is written in such a way that every verse dealing with this topic can be read in any crowd without causing any to become uncomfortable.  Following are a few of these aforementioned verses.  (This post is not yet completed.  It will be updated on a regular basis until it is finished.)

Verses that mention the male body parts by name:

When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

Isaiah 56:3

Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

Verses that mention the female body parts by name:

And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.
Ezekiel 23:3

Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.
Ezekiel 23:8

Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
Ezekiel 23:34

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.  And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?  And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.  And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.  But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.  What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.  And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.  And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.  And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
